Amulya Charan

Mr. Charan retired from active service in 2013 and is now functioning as an independent advisor in the fields of Energy, Infrastructure and Finance. He is on the Boards of several companies and renders advice to several organisations, including, MNCs, Industry Associations and NGOs.

He has more than five decades of experience in various industries ranging from consumer goods, international marketing, joint venture promotion, automotive components, information technology, telecom, power, and oil & gas sectors. He has worked in companies such as The Coca Cola Export Corporation, Trade Development Authority, NTPC, Power Grid Corporation, Escorts Communications, Escotel Mobile Communications, Tata AutoComp Systems, ITPL and Tata Power.

He has been with the Tata Group since 1996 and has also been on the Board of several Tata companies. Mr. Charan served as CFO and Head Business Development in Tata Power Company Limited from 2001 to 2007 and as Chief Mentor from 2011 until his retirement in 2013. He served as Managing Director of Tata Power Trading Company Limited from 2007 until 2011. He has also served several Tata Group companies as Group Financial Controller of Tata Autocomp Systems Ltd; Finance Director & Officiating Chief Executive Officer in the  Information Technology Park Ltd.; Director of NELCO Limited and is at present a Director on the Board of Taj Air Limited.

Mr. Charan holds a B.E. (Mechanical) from the University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) and Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.​
