On February 25, media reports stated that madrassa student Abu Bakkar raped a minor Hindu girl inside ‘People’s Quami Madrassa’ in Bijoynagar village, Natore district, Bangladesh.

Extremists in Bangladesh are threatened to slaughter 100 cows on the occasion of the Bengali New Year (Pohela Boishakh), which is celebrated on the 14th of April each year. The development comes amid targeted attacks at events by violent Muslim mobs, operating under the banner of ‘Tawhidi Janata.’
With no definitive assurance from the Muhammad Yunus-led-regime against threats on Pohela Baishakh, the Hindu community is threatened ahead of the annual festival.

Hindus under attack: a weekly roundup of hate crimes, persecution, and discrimination against Hindus
Hindu Awami League leader Bharat Chandra was beheaded in Dinajpur’s Parbatipur upazila, his hands and feet tied, and his body dumped near a railway track.
A Hindu woman was gang-raped on a bus in Rajshahi while returning home from Dhaka on February 17; police arrested the bus driver and conductor, but no complaint has been filed yet. Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh continue, with temple desecrations, land grabs, mob violence, and forced conversions used to drive the community out.

The OHCHR(Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights) report exposes large-scale attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh following Sheikh Hasina’s ouster, detailing mob violence, arson, forced resignations, and temple desecrations. While Muhammad Yunus’ interim government downplays these atrocities, the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council has demanded a full investigation into communal violence.

A Hindu girl, Iti Das, died by suicide in Bangladesh’s Potuakhali district after being harassed by a Muslim youth, Hriday Rayhan, and further humiliated by the police. The police detained and interrogated her for hours, adding to her distress. Local Hindus blamed the harassment and public shaming for her death, demanding justice and the arrest of the accused.

Islamists vandalized a Saraswati Murti in a temple in Faridpur, Bangladesh, but were caught by local Hindus and handed over to the police. The attacker, Muhammad Mirajuddin, had previously targeted an ISKCON temple but was freed by authorities under the pretext of mental illness. Meanwhile, two Hindu temples were set on fire in Gopalganj, even as the Bangladeshi government continues to deny persecution of Hindus and falsely accuses Indian media of spreading misinformation.
